Description

Spectravox is a semi‑modular analog spectral processor (and vocoder) made by Moog Music. It combines classic Moog‑style synthesis with a dynamic 10‑band filter bank — allowing it to function both as a standalone synthesizer and as a powerful sound‑shaping tool when processing external audio signals.

As a standalone instrument, it uses its internal oscillator and noise generator to produce analog tones. When fed an external signal (voice, instrument, etc.) through its input, Spectravox acts as an analogue vocoder or spectral processor — injecting the character of the external sound into its filter bank for creative sound design.

Given its versatility, it’s ideal for experimental sound design, modular synth rigs, ambient textures, vocal manipulation, psychedelic effects, or any setup where “unusual / hybrid / evolving sounds” are desired.

 Key Features

  • Semi‑modular architecture — no need to patch to start playing; but full patchbay access allows deep integration with other modules or synthesizers.

  • 10‑Band filter bank — includes 1 low‑pass filter, 8 band‑pass filters, and 1 high‑pass filter. Each band is variable resonance and can be modulated individually.

  • Internal sound sources — built‑in analog VCO (with sawtooth or pulse wave + pulse‑width adjustment) and a white noise generator. These allow Spectravox to act as a standalone synth voice.

  • External input + Vocoder mode — with a combo XLR / ¼″ input (also 3.5 mm jack supported), allowing mic or instrument/line‑level sources. When used this way, Spectravox becomes a full 10‑band analog vocoder or spectral processor.

  • Extensive patchbay — dozens of input/output jacks (CV and audio) let you modulate nearly every parameter, integrate with other Eurorack/semi-modular gear, route signals creatively, and shape sound dynamically.

  • Modulation options — internal triangle‑wave LFO (for filter modulation, spectral shifting, etc.), plus CV inputs for external modulation — enabling phaser‑, wah‑, and evolving spectral effects.
