The Yamaha PHXB-1814MMN is a premium 18" × 14" bass drum from Yamaha’s flagship PHX (Phoenix) series, representing the ultimate in acoustic drum craftsmanship and innovation.

Handcrafted in Japan, the PHX series showcases Yamaha’s most advanced shell design and meticulous attention to detail. This model features an 11-ply all-maple shell, using carefully selected North American maple. This all-maple construction produces a warm, rich low end with exceptional clarity and dynamic response, ideal for a wide range of musical styles — from jazz and fusion to rock and pop.

The drum is built with a 30-degree bearing edge, precision-cut to maximize contact between head and shell. This design offers a strong, punchy attack, balanced sustain, and smooth low-frequency response.

The YESS II (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system is designed to reduce contact with the shell, allowing for maximum resonance and natural tone. The signature hook lug design ensures quick, precise tuning while further minimizing shell contact, preserving the drum’s pure, open sound.

Lightweight 3 mm die-cast aluminum hoops provide excellent tuning stability and enhance the drum’s natural sustain, while also delivering a focused, controlled tone.
