The Yamaha PHXB-2216MGRMN is a 22″ x 16″ bass drum from Yamaha’s flagship PHX (Phoenix) series, designed for top-level drummers who want maximum sound quality and modern style.

It features Yamaha’s advanced 11-ply hybrid shell construction, combining a hard Jatoba core for deep, powerful lows, Kapur layers for warmth and punch, and Maple inner and outer plies for clarity and bright attack. This combination gives the drum a rich, wide-range tone that is full and responsive.

A 30-degree bearing edge (R1.5 profile) helps create a strong, focused attack with tight, controlled sustain, making it great for both live and studio situations.

The undrilled “R-version” shell (no tom mount holes) allows the shell to resonate more freely, giving a purer, more open sound.
