The PHXB-2416MRPWH is a 24″ × 16″ bass drum from Yamaha’s elite PHX (Phoenix) series, which is considered Yamaha’s most advanced and premium drum line. Handcrafted in Japan, it showcases Yamaha’s top-level hybrid shell technology, designed to deliver ultimate resonance, projection, and tonal depth.

The shell consists of 11 plies, strategically combining jatoba (dense, powerful core) with inner and outer plies of kapur and maple. This construction yields a deep, full-bodied low end, balanced warmth, and crisp attack. The 30-degree bearing edges improve tuning range and articulation, while Yamaha’s specialized hook lug system ensures even tension and maximum shell vibration.
