The PHXB-2418MBCS is a 24″ × 18″ bass drum from Yamaha’s premium PHX (Phoenix) series, which is the brand’s flagship line, hand-built in Japan and designed for professional drummers who demand the ultimate in sound quality, craftsmanship, and aesthetic appeal.

The shell construction features Yamaha’s unique 11-ply hybrid design, using a core of jatoba (a dense, heavy wood providing punch and projection), with intermediate plies of kapur, and outer plies of maple. This combination results in an extremely powerful, resonant, and warm sound with excellent low-end depth and controlled sustain.

The 24" diameter paired with an 18" depth produces an even deeper, boomier sound than the 16" or 14" depths often used on PHX bass drums. It’s perfect for players who want maximum low-end power and presence on big stages or in large recording spaces.

The 30-degree bearing edges allow for a focused yet broad tonal range, while Yamaha’s proprietary hook lug system helps achieve uniform tension and optimal shell resonance.
