The Yamaha PHXB-2418MMN is a premium 24" × 18" bass drum from Yamaha’s flagship PHX (pronounced "Phoenix") series — regarded as Yamaha's most advanced and luxurious drum line.

Shell Construction

• Built with an innovative 11-ply hybrid shell, combining three select woods:

  • Jatoba at the core for high density and punchy low-end.

  • Kapur in the middle layers for warmth and depth.

  • Maple for the inner and outer plies, delivering clarity and balanced high frequencies.
    This construction results in an exceptionally rich, full-bodied sound with deep low-end resonance and articulate attack.

Size & Sound

• Dimensions: 24 inches in diameter, 18 inches in depth.

• Designed to deliver a powerful, thunderous low-end punch, ideal for big stage settings or genres that require extra projection and depth (like rock, fusion, or large ensemble pop).

Bearing Edges & Resonance

• Precision-cut 30° bearing edges, with edges specifically contoured for the bass drum to emphasize warmth and controlled attack.

• The shell design maximizes vibration and sustain, producing an organic, “alive” feel.

Hardware

• Features 3 mm aluminum die-cast hoops, providing strength and a focused tone while keeping the drum relatively lightweight.

• Hook lugs with an internal locking mechanism ensure precise tuning stability and reduce shell stress.

• Undrilled shell design (often called a "virgin" bass drum), allowing the drum to resonate fully without interference from mounting hardware.
