The PHXF-1615MGPWH is a 16" diameter by 15" deep floor tom from Yamaha’s premium PHX Phoenix drum series. This series is renowned for combining exquisite craftsmanship with innovative design to produce drums that offer superior tone, projection, and aesthetic appeal.

Shell Construction:

• Made from an 11-ply hybrid shell, the construction layers include:

  • Jatoba wood in the center ply, known for its warmth and richness in tone.

  • Kapur wood in the inner and outer plies, which adds clarity and sustain.

  • Maple on the outermost layers, providing brightness and punch.

This unique hybrid composition delivers a versatile, balanced sound that works well in many musical styles.

Hardware and Mounting:

• Equipped with gold-plated hook lugs that add visual elegance and provide secure, precise tuning.

• Uses aluminum die-cast hoops which contribute to tuning stability and a focused sound.

• Features Yamaha's Y.E.S.S. II (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System II) mounting system, which maximizes shell resonance and sustain by minimizing contact points between the shell and hardware.

Drum Heads:

• Comes with Remo Ambassador Clear heads on both batter (top) and resonant (bottom) sides, offering an open, bright tone with excellent attack.

• The bass drum typically uses a Remo P3 Smooth White front head, designed to control overtones and deliver punchy low-end response.
