The RBT-1309SOB is a premium rack tom from Yamaha’s flagship Recording Custom series, known worldwide for its focused, punchy tone and superior studio performance.

? Build & Materials

• Shell: 6-ply (approx. 6 mm thick) 100% North American birch. This shell delivers bright attack, strong midrange, and a quick, controlled sustain — Yamaha’s classic “Recording Custom” sound.

• Bearing edges: Precision 30° edges with an R1.5 rounded radius, making the drum easy to tune and helping it produce a crisp, articulate response.

• Lugs: Weighted, high-tension one-piece lugs designed to improve tuning stability and increase shell focus, enhancing low-end presence and attack.

• Hoops: 1.6 mm triple-flange steel hoops. These allow for an open, balanced tone while offering reliable rimshot articulation.

• Mounting: Yamaha’s Y.E.S.S. (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system isolates the shell, allowing maximum resonance and sustain without interference from the mounting hardware.
