The Soundcraft VI5000/7000 Local Rack is the I/O and DSP core for the Vi5000 and Vi7000 digital mixing console systems. Acting as the central processing and connectivity hub, it links the control surface to stageboxes, enabling large-scale live sound mixing with flexible routing and high-fidelity audio.

Key Features:

• High-Resolution Audio: Supports up to 96 kHz sample rate for superior audio quality.

• Cat 5/Cat 7 Connectivity: Uses Ethercon cables for a robust digital audio link between stageboxes and the local rack, allowing the mixing position to be placed up to ~100 m from the stage.

• Multimode Optical Support: Some configurations include optical MADI connections and Dante networking alongside Cat 5.

• Flexible I/O: Provides a large number of inputs and outputs, patchable to any channel input, direct output, bus, or insert point.

• Active Breakout Box: Typically includes analog line, mic/line, AES/EBU digital, and monitor outputs.

• Scalable DSP: With 8 DSP cards, the system can process up to 64 inputs and 32 stereo buses at 96 kHz, or 128 inputs at 48 kHz.
