Description
The EOL box functions as an End-of-Line (EOL) terminator in audio systems that use a 20 kHz pilot tone to monitor for open or short circuit faults. It is installed at the furthest point of the loudspeaker line. Unlike standard loudspeakers, the EOL box is reactive at 20 kHz, allowing the resulting current to be monitored through HiQnet Audio Architect™ software. Any open or short condition in the circuit causes a change in the measured 20 kHz current.
At 20 kHz, the EOL box provides either a 10-ohm or 5-ohm load, selectable via an external impedance switch. This monitoring approach requires the 20 kHz pilot tone to be combined with the audio signal. The pilot tone can be generated by DCi Network or Dante family amplifiers, as well as USP4 family of CTs amplifiers. In addition, the built-in DSP of the DCi Network, Dante, and USP4 amplifiers allows the pilot tone to bypass internal loudspeaker processing.
