The Roland CYQ-12 is a 12-inch electronic cymbal pad from the V-Drums Quiet Design series, developed for drummers who want a more comfortable and low-noise playing experience at home. Its specialized construction helps reduce acoustic playing noise and vibration while maintaining responsive triggering and a natural cymbal feel.

The CYQ-12 uses a noise-absorbing honeycomb rubber insert covered by a mesh surface to help minimize the sound produced when the cymbal is struck. Vents beneath the playing surface allow air pressure to escape, while soft rubber isolation around the plastic components helps reduce the transfer of vibrations. Together, these features provide a quieter playing experience compared with conventional V-Drums cymbal pads.

The versatile CYQ-12 can be configured for crash or ride applications, with independent bow and edge triggering for expressive playing. Choke control is also supported, allowing the cymbal to be muted by grabbing the edge. When paired with the Roland FD-9 or other compatible V-Drums hi-hat control pedals, the CYQ-12 can also be used as a quiet electronic hi-hat.
