The Yamaha RBS-1480WLN is a premium 14" × 8" wood snare drum from Yamaha’s acclaimed Recording Custom series, designed in collaboration with legendary drummer Steve Gadd.

Featuring a 6-ply, 6 mm North American birch shell, this snare delivers a bright, cutting attack with strong midrange presence and controlled low-end warmth. The deeper 8" shell depth enhances body and projection, providing a fat, powerful sound ideal for pop, rock, and studio sessions where a commanding backbeat is needed.

It uses a 30° bearing edge with R1.5 radius, ensuring clear articulation and easy tuning across a wide dynamic range. The 1.6 mm triple-flanged steel hoops contribute to an open, resonant tone while maintaining excellent rimshot feel and response.

The drum is equipped with Yamaha’s one-piece high-tension lugs, a Q-type strainer system, and 25-strand high-carbon steel snare wires, allowing precise snare sensitivity and quick adjustments during performances.
