Description
The dbx DI4 is a versatile 4-channel direct injection unit designed to serve as an essential tool for a wide range of audio applications. With four independent channels, it efficiently converts unbalanced signals into balanced outputs for use with mixers, PA systems, recording consoles, and other professional audio equipment. In addition to functioning as a DI box, the DI4 can also operate as a multi-channel stereo line mixer, making it especially useful for live performance setups.
As a line mixer, the DI4 allows multiple keyboards, samplers, and sound modules to be connected into a single rack unit on stage. It provides individual balanced XLR outputs to the stage box for the front-of-house engineer, while letting the performer create a separate custom mix for stage monitoring. A built-in headphone output adds further monitoring flexibility.
More Details
Using the dbx DI4 as a DI Box:
Connect your unbalanced signal source to one of the front-panel ¼-inch inputs. Then connect the corresponding rear-panel XLR output to your mixer or other destination. If the input level is too hot, engage the 20 dB pad. Any ground loop hum can be eliminated by activating the ground (earth) lift switch.
Using the dbx DI4 as a Line Mixer:
All input channels can be mixed and routed to a single stereo pair of RCA outputs on the rear panel. This allows the DI4 to function as a compact line mixer. Simply connect the RCA stereo master outputs to your destination and adjust the volume and pan controls for each channel on the front panel to achieve the desired mix.
