The Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer combines advanced guitar-to-MIDI tracking, powerful synthesizer sounds, COSM modeling, and versatile effects in a single floor-based processor. Designed for fast and accurate response, the GR-55 detects pitch, velocity, and sustain with impressive precision, allowing guitarists to trigger realistic synthesizer sounds and expressive textures directly from their instrument.

The GR-55 uses Roland’s advanced pitch-detection technology together with the included GK-3 divided pickup to provide responsive tracking across the guitar’s strings. This allows players to access a wide range of sounds, from synthesizer leads, pads, strings, and piano tones to modeled guitars, basses, and other instruments.

Roland’s COSM modeling technology provides detailed guitar and bass tones with extensive sound-shaping capabilities. The GR-55 includes 910 PCM tone types, 23 guitar modeling types, and 17 bass modeling types, giving musicians a large selection of sounds for live performance, recording, and experimentation.

The processor also includes a comprehensive collection of effects, including 20 multi-effects types, 42 amp/preamp types, 14 modulation effects, 7 delay types, 5 reverbs, 4 chorus types, and EQ. Its extensive patch memory provides 270 guitar preset patches with 297 user patches and 90 bass preset patches with 297 user patches, allowing players to store and organize custom setups.

For live performance, the GR-55 features three control pedals and a built-in expression/volume pedal for hands-free control of sounds and effects. MIDI In and Out connections allow integration with other MIDI-compatible equipment, while USB connectivity supports computer connection and USB memory playback.
