The Roland MC-101 GROOVEBOX is a compact and portable music workstation designed for creating, sequencing, performing, and producing electronic music anywhere. Powered by Roland’s advanced ZEN-Core Synthesis System, the MC-101 combines a four-track sequencer, powerful sound engine, sample playback, clip-based workflow, onboard effects, and hands-on performance controls in a lightweight, battery-powered unit.

Designed as a portable production studio, the MC-101 provides a wide selection of professional sounds, patterns, drum kits, synth tones, and musical phrases. Its 16 RGB performance pads allow users to trigger clips, create patterns, play samples, and manipulate arrangements in real time. The four-track architecture provides dedicated parts for drums, bass, synthesizers, samples, and other musical elements.

The MC-101 features Roland's ZEN-Core sound engine, providing access to sounds inspired by classic Roland instruments and electronic music gear, including iconic tones associated with the TR-808, TR-909, JUNO-106, and SH-101. Users can also expand the workstation with additional ZEN-Core Sound Packs and downloadable content.

With its built-in sample player, the MC-101 allows users to import their own audio recordings, loops, one-shots, and musical phrases. Imported sounds can be synchronized to the project's tempo, manipulated with onboard controls, and processed through the unit's extensive effects.

The MC-101 also functions as a powerful performance instrument. Clips and scenes can be triggered and rearranged in real time, while automation, resampling, effects, and hands-on controls allow performers to build dynamic arrangements during live sets.
