Rane Announces Sale (and audio geeks freak out.)
Rane has long been known as an audio industry stalwart of quality. Their original 19" rotary mixers were fixtures of nightclubs across the globe and the TTM-57 set the bar for every other authorized Serato mixer to follow. The announcement last week that "Rane Corporation is pleased to announce that cofounders Linda Arink and Dennis Bohn have agreed to sell Rane Corporation to InMusic LLC." was a shock to many and has left many fans scrambling to scoop up the last of the existing Rane stock before what they regard as the inevitable demise of one of the U.S.A.'s most beloved pro-audio manufacturers.
InMusic is no stranger to the DJ/Pro-Audio market themselves with a roster of brands such as Akai, Denon, Numark, M-Audio and more. The acquisition looks to secure their foothold with a brand associated with quality and reliability beyond what their current line offers. More and more it's looking as though Rane is looking at InMusic as a home where Rane can grow with their expansive resources and engineering talent: "“I am proud Rane is going to become a member of the inMusic family,” said Linda Arink, Finance Director for Rane. “This is the perfect new home for our company, one that will embrace the legacy of our products and grow our business to its maximum potential."
As for now it looks like we will all have to watch and wait to see what direction Rane takes with their new leadership.
