The BOSS GX-100 is a professional-grade amp and effects processor built for guitarists and bassists who want exceptional sound quality, extensive tonal flexibility, and intuitive control in a single floor-based unit. At the heart of the GX-100 are 32 amplifier types and more than 170 BOSS effects, giving players an extensive selection of classic and modern tones. The effects library includes overdrives, distortions, modulation effects, delays, reverbs, pitch effects, filters, compressors, and bass-specific effects. Up to 15 assignable blocks can be used within a single patch, including two amplifier blocks, with flexible series and parallel routing for creating complex signal chains.

The GX-100 makes sound creation remarkably straightforward with its large color touchscreen, four control knobs, and dedicated page controls. Players can quickly select amps and effects, adjust parameters, rearrange the signal chain, and create custom patches without navigating complicated menus. The touchscreen also makes it easy to visually manage the entire signal path while performing or editing sounds.

For live musicians, the GX-100 provides extensive real-time control. Eight onboard footswitches can be freely assigned to functions such as patch changes, effect activation, tap tempo, solo boosts, and parameter adjustments. The integrated expression pedal with toe switch can control volume, wah, pitch, or other effects. Additional footswitches and expression pedals can be connected for even more control, while MIDI connectivity allows the GX-100 to integrate with larger performance rigs.

The GX-100 also provides flexible amplifier and speaker integration. Its AIRD Output Select options allow players to optimize their tones for an amplifier input, power amp and guitar speaker setup, FRFR monitor, or PA system. Built-in speaker cabinet models are available for direct connections, and WAV-format speaker impulse responses can be loaded for additional cabinet options.

For recording, the GX-100 functions as a USB audio interface, allowing musicians to record directly into a computer-based DAW, capture processed guitar and bass tones, and re-amp tracks. The send/return loop supports external pedals and four-cable-method configurations, making it easy to incorporate existing gear into the GX-100 setup. The onboard looper is useful for practicing, songwriting, creating backing parts, and developing ideas during performances.

The GX-100 is also an excellent practice and home-studio solution. Its headphone output enables quiet playing, while BOSS Tone Studio provides deeper editing, patch management, and Liveset organization from a computer. With the optional Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor, players can wirelessly stream audio and control or edit sounds from compatible mobile devices.
